Located in South-West Bangkok, the 20-building campus features first-class academic and social facilities designed to cater for the specific needs of student life.
Campus Facilities
The campus of Siam University is located on Petkasem Road, within the southwest boundaries of Bangkok, and is approximately 6 kilometers from the main financial district of the city. Currently, the campus is comprised of 20 main buildings with a total floor area of roughly 140,000 square meters. In 1999, a new 19-story multipurpose building was built to commemorate the 72nd birthday of His Majesty King Bhumibol of Thailand, who graciously gave it the name, "The Royal Majesty Jubilee Building". This recently built structure containsover 50,000 square meters of floor space, and consists of classrooms, various laboratories, research centers, and an international conference center with high-tech facilities that are completely wired with a fiber-optic information network. There is also a mini-hotel in this building complex for use in the International Hotel and Tourism Management Program, as well as a theater and 700 additional parking spaces. Located beside Building 19 is the Garden of Peace, a relaxing, treecovered park with food and beverage stands, a large fountain and many places to unwind between classes.
Library Facilities
The Siam University Central Library contains: textbooks, magazines, periodicals, academic journals and technological books, as well as materials such as cassettes, videos computer programs and On-line Database totaling more than 200,000 items, of which many are in English. This main, on-campus library contains 3,500 square meters of floor space, and is conveniently located on the second and third floors of Building 12. The library can accommodate approximately 1,000 users at a time in its air-conditioned reading rooms, individual learning rooms and group discussion rooms. It also features a large computer lab with high-speed Internet access. As an additional resource, motion picture CDs are available for checkout, as well as other audio/visual materials, computer software and CD-ROMs. A separate Graduate School library is located on the 3rd floor of Royal Majesty Jubilee Building (Bldg.19)
Computer Facilities
The Siam University Computer Center is operated by Campus Network, and is linked by fiberglass cable with six other main computer centers in various other University buildings. The high-speed Internet connections work at a 4 megabyte per second speed, and there are over 20,000 Internet user accounts. In Building 15, there is a student Internet center containing over 350 desktop computers with high-speed access to the World Wide Web. Moreover most of the present campus areas arecovered by wireless Internet Network.
The Cultural Center
Located in the Thai-style building on the Siam University campus, the Cultural Center houses objets d art documents and valuable culturerelated paintings. For preservation, the center collects, restores and publicizes valuable Thai cultural and traditional artifacts. It extends this preservation by arranging xhibitions, printing related documents, broadcasting cultural activities, as well as teaching Thai-style music and dance on commemoration days. The center is open to students, faculty and staff, as well as other interested campus visitors.
Health Facilities and Programs
Siam University provides various on- campus health facilities, which include: a fully-staffed clinic for general health problems and minor injuries, an air-conditioned exercise gym, a student union and students clubs, intra-university sports, inter-university sports and initiate and participate in the Thailand University Basketball League, as well as other programs.
Guidance and Placement Division
Siam offers job-placement services to graduating students wanting to find jobs appropriate to their fields of study. The Guidance and Placement Division office is located in the Thai-style Building, also known as Building 4, and also has new offices on the ground floor of Building 19.
Postal Services
Conveniently located on campus, The Siam University Post Office offers: general post services, international fax, money orders, parcel-post delivery services, general postal supply sales and mailbox rental.
Commercial Banking Services
Thai Military Bank PCL, Siam University Branch, offers convenient, on-campus financial and banking services for the universitys students, faculty, staff and visitors. Presently 6 ATMs are equipped to provide financial services to Siam University staff and students.
Bookshop and Stationary
Store Siam University supports a SE-ED Siam University Bookstore on-campus with books, magazines, textbooks, stationary, gifts and office supplies available for purchase.
Financial Services
Services such as military study, reductions in railway fees, as well as student loans and scholarships for needy students and those with exceptional high school grades are provided by Siam University.
