Undergraduate Admissions

SIAM accepts candidates who have completed upper secondary education (grade 12) according to international standards and candidates who wish to transfer from another accredited institution of tertiary education, dependent on the candidate’s educational performance, physical and mental health, personal conduct and entrance interview results.

Admissions Periods

There are 2 intakes per year:

  1. Summer: March—May for 1st semester starting in June
  2. Autumn/Fall: September—October for 2nd semester starting in November

Admission Requirements

The main requirement for admission in an undergraduate course is to have completed upper secondary education (grade 12) and possess a high school certificate (or equivalent) and transcripts.

Checklist for Admission:

  1. grade 12 certificate or equivalent as well as transcript of academic records
  2. photocopy of passport
  3. Non-criminal record
  4. statement of purpose
  5. 2 letters of recommendation (from high school teachers + professor or alumni of SIAM)
  6. results of TOEFL, TOEIC or IELTS, if available
  7. 3 recent photographs (3x4 cm)
  8. Application fees

Application Procedures:

  1. Complete application form (download or fill online) and send to SU along with supporting documents (see Application Documents above) and application fee of $US 45.00
  2. admission committee reviews application file and, if satisfactory, send applicant an invitation letter (in Thai language for application of visa)
  3. applicant applies for student visa (non-immigrant, category “ED”) at the nearest Thai consulate
  4. applicants comes to Thailand and finalize admission at SU campus (placement test + course registration)

English Language proficiency

Dependent on the result from the interview and the English language placement test, candidates may be required to take English language courses before undertaking undergraduate studies. English language proficiency may be demonstrated by submitting test results, such as TOEIC, TOEFL and IELTS. Placement test and interview are waived for English native speakers and those who have a TOEFL score of 500 PBT or 60 IBT or equivalent.

Academic requirements

In Thailand, 80% class attendance is required in order to sit for final exams. Also all students must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or above throughout their studies.

Transfer of Credits

SIAM recognizes credits earned in other accredited institutions and accept transfer of credits for courses that are least 75% similar to SIAM curriculum and for which a grade of C or higher was earned.

Students must provide a detailed course description from their former university for each course they wish to transfer credits for.

Academic Semester (15 weeks semester)

  • First semester (Summer): June – October
  • Second semester (Autumn/Fall): November – March
  • Third semester (Spring): April - May

Estimated expenses

  • Application fee: $US 45
  • Tuition fee and books; $US 1,800
  • Accommodation: $US 1,800
  • Health insurance: $US 150
